We seek an individual with a collaborative spirit who can seamlessly work together with other top-talented designers, drafters, in-house engineering teams, consultants, and contractors to advance our projects. Somerville architects are problem solvers who demonstrate strong critical‑thinking abilities, great attention to detail, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. This is a full‑time, in‑office position.
Your role will involve:
- Collaborating with and mentoring designers and drafters
- Performing building assessments and writing reports
- Planning and executing projects from inception through completion on schedule and within budget
- Utilizing BIM software and visualization methods
- Incorporating best practices and sustainability strategies into designs
- Ensuring projects meet client expectations and code requirements
- Coordinating with consultants and contractors
- Reviewing specifications
- Performing field observation, overseeing construction administration, and ensuring adherence to design intent
- Managing project close‑out and ensuring successful project delivery
- Presenting to clients and the public
- Responsible for project profitability and client maintenance
- Ten+ years of architectural experience working on projects in healthcare, education, community, or commercial markets
- A strong portfolio of work, including award‑winning projects
- Experience with Revit, BIM software, and Bluebeam preferred
- Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture
- Licensed with 10+ years of experience
- LEED accreditation preferred
- Artistic and thoughtful design abilities
- Expertise in design theory
- Excellent communication, writing, and public speaking/presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities
- Exceptional time management
- Actively seeks to collaborate with diverse team members
- Passionate about fostering collaboration and teamwork
