GBAPS is currently seeking qualified candidates to work in various roles filling in long term leaves of absences. GBAPS District substitute teachers implement lesson plans in the absence of the classroom teacher. This position helps students reach proficiency as specified in the District’s written curriculum. We offer $190 per full day in short term substitute positions or $210 per full day in long term substitute positions.

• Creates a favorable professional impression on students, parents, community, and other employees.
• Maintains confidentiality in verbal, written, and electronic communication. Refers confidential information to the appropriate person.
• Follows safe practices and adheres to safety standards.
• Classroom Functions:
  Takes attendance according to the procedures of the school.
• Implements lesson plans in the absence of the classroom teacher.
• Ensures students and self assume responsibility for safe, appropriate use and return of classroom materials and supplies.
• Complies with all procedures, guidelines and policies of the schools at all times. Long term positions have additional deadlines and expectations.
• Communicates with classroom teacher regarding special situations or problems encountered.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Manages classroom procedures and groups by using questioning and discussion.
• Manages student behavior and transitions.
• Demonstrates receptivity to colleague feedback.

• Certification:
  Wisconsin DPI Substitute Teacher, Provisional or Lifetime Educator license
• Education:
  
  Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Training:
  Successful completion of a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction endorsed Substitute Teacher Training Program (Training programs offered at or ask about the next GBAPS training)

• Work requires flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations and daily schedules
• May work outside and dress for weather required
