WisDOT invites qualified individuals to join its Project Development Section as a Transportation Specialist. This role supports highway improvement plans, design, construction, and public involvement throughout Wisconsin’s Northeast Region.

Two vacancies exist for Transportation Specialists, entry‑level and senior, each performing plans production and design/construction duties. Positions may be filled at the entry level with developmental opportunities to the senior level.

• Produce and edit engineering exhibits for public involvement, detail drawings, roadway geometrics, and highway plan sheets.
• Assist the Project Leader and design team in design tasks, including design study reports, environmental documentation, estimates, quantities, plans, and specifications.
• Serve as a construction project leader for small, medium, and large projects, overseeing inspections, direction of personnel, public involvement, and contract administration.
• Lead the development of plans, specifications, and estimates for small to large design projects, including preliminary and final plan preparation, layout, detail drawings, and engineering computations.

• Entry level: annual salary $54,766–$60,590.
• Senior level: annual salary $64,480–$74,880.
• 12‑month probationary period required.

• Independent travel up to 25% of the time for fieldwork, trainings, and meetings.
