Job Summary
The Engineering Leader will drive a team comprised of 8-10 engineers (mechanical and electrical) to continuously improve and execute to meet company objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provide project leadership and technical direction to the development of engineering models, services and capabilities that support the achievement of business goals and objectives.
- Provide technical oversight, guidance and assistance to team members as required to meet deadlines and budgets.
- Leverage broad cross‑functional business knowledge to produce results that improve business performance and help gain buy‑in from the internal customers.
- Stay up to date on current industry trends, technology offerings and best practices, and through participation in knowledge sharing, educate the team to improve overall efficiency.
- Critically assess engineering processes and determine the most productive improvements to implement.
- Set priorities for associates in accordance with stakeholder interest; collaborate and communicate across departments to facilitate schedule adherence.
- Work with other engineering team leaders to enable scheduling resulting in projects that are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Continuously improve team performance by understanding the team’s skillset and aspirations compared to the business needs and create an action plan to close gaps.
- Hold team members to high standards—provide timely feedback to raise all team members’ level of performance.
- May perform engineering work as needed.
- Develop and implement engineering standards and tool sets, increasing engineering efficiency and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- At least five years of engineering experience.
- Three or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- Track record of continuous implementing improvements/standardization within solid modeling CAD tools and vault framework.
- Display progressive design and project management responsibilities in the custom and semi‑custom OEM, low volume, high capital, manufacturing industry.
- Strong background in engineering change processes and related procedures.
- Experience in high speed automation, OEM equipment, using latest industrial controls platforms.
- Proven track record of leading a team to consistently deliver high‑quality products.
Proven track record of success in improving team performance is desirable. A non‑traditional, entrepreneurial mindset focused on business building and process improvement. Demonstrated project management experience. Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis. Proficient in relevant engineering software. Knowledge of Solid Works CAD and PDM is preferred.

This position directly supervises other team members.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDSTypically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer. Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally. Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally. Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards. Travel by air or car occasionally.
