Compensation: $2,250 total stipend for a 15‑week term
Background:
The UW‑Green Bay Esports Lounge opened in February 2022 in the University Union. The Lounge has 30 gaming PCs and 4 Nintendo Switch consoles open for all students to use and is open 12 hours per day on weekdays and 7 hours per day on the weekends during the semester. The program runs competitive teams in 6 game titles:
Rocket League, VALORANT, League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It also hosts an in‑house broadcast studio to livestream matches. These teams compete in the Wisconsin Esports Conference and often culminate in a regional LAN event prior to the championship LAN.
- Provide player and team development for the assigned game title.
- Support the holistic development of student‑athletes both in and out of competition.
- Attend and oversee all formal varsity team practices, matches, and reviews.
- Work alongside the Esports Coordinator to implement the team’s plan to attain their goal(s).
- Construct effective tactics and strategies with the team.
- Work alongside the Esports Coordinator to establish the roster(s) prior to the start of the season, when possible.
- Serve as primary point of contact for team‑related communications with opponents and internal stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree at time of application.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in competitive play for the game title of hire.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Is not affiliated with another competing collegiate team in the active competition(s).
- Bachelor’s degree at time of application.
- 1 year as dedicated coach for a team in a specific game title OR 2 years as individual/personal consultant coach in a specific game title.
- Can attend all team activities in‑person on Green Bay campus.
Position is flexible. In person attendance is preferred but not required. Travel is not expected. The home campus is Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to or work at the Marinette, Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus based on operational needs. Position is a 25% Limited appointment. Background check and criminal conviction investigation will be conducted for the finalist(s).
