Tax Manager - Trust & Estates

Role Overview

The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing complex trusts and estates tax engagements, reviewing tax returns, advising clients and fiduciaries, coordinating with attorneys and financial advisors, and helping ensure that client matters are handled accurately, professionally, and on time.

This role will involve both compliance and planning work. The successful candidate should be comfortable handling complex tax issues, communicating with clients and advisors, managing deadlines, and taking ownership of client relationships.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing complex trust, estate, gift, fiduciary, and high-net-worth individual tax engagements
• Reviewing Forms 1041, 706, 709, 1040, and related state filings
• Advising clients, fiduciaries, attorneys, financial advisors, and beneficiaries on tax issues
• Identifying tax planning opportunities for estates, trusts, fiduciaries, and high-net-worth individuals
• Supervising, training, and mentoring preparers and staff
• Managing client relationships and serving as a primary point of contact
• Coordinating deadlines, document flow, tax notices, extensions, and year-end planning
• Assisting with practice development and long-term growth of trusts and estates tax services
• Supporting partners on complex planning, estate administration, and wealth transfer matters

Ideal candidates will have:

• Significant experience in public accounting, tax, law, or a closely related professional setting
• Strong technical knowledge of trusts, estates, fiduciary income tax, gift tax, and estate tax
• Experience reviewing complex Forms 1041, 706, 709, 1040, and related state filings
• Ability to manage client relationships with professionalism and sound judgment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
• Interest in long-term professional growth, leadership, and partnership
• CPA with a master's degree in taxation, or JD with an LL.M. in taxation

Experience with estate administration, fiduciary accounting, probate-related tax matters, charitable planning, or high-net-worth individual tax planning is a plus.
