The Therapy Support Staff–Physical Rehab completes office, reception, and clerical duties for the Physical Rehabilitation Department, as well as supporting the practitioners both in house and at outreach clinics. Registers patients, verifies insurance eligibility, and determines prior authorization needs, reconciles denials and assists with coding and billing for all patients. Maintains materials and supplies for all department areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One (1) year related experience in a medical office or related experience working with automated systems and computer technology.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: N/A
Experience: Two (2) or more years in a medical setting to include billing, coding and medical terminology.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Understanding of medical terminology. Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Publisher, etc.). Skills in verbal and written communication. Ability to perform detailed work accurately and on a timely basis. Type 50 wpm; use copy machine, telephone intercom, calculator and computer. Ability to manage time, organize and prioritize responsibilities.
READING- Intermediate:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
WRITING- Intermediate:
Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
SPEAKING- Intermediate:
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate
Skills:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
