Job Summary
The Drug Screen Collector is responsible for the collection and processing of urine drug screens as well as breath alcohol testing ensuring that all collections are completed accurately and timely. The person in this role must maintain a safe and professional environment, and perform with confidence the specimen collection and processing duties all while following required practices and procedures. This position also coordinates and reports all laboratory‑based and rapid test results to clients.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients promptly, courteously, and professionally, ensuring a welcoming experience.
- Verify patient information for accuracy and completeness during check‑in.
- Collect urine specimens for drug screening as a Certified Professional Collector (CPC) in compliance with DATIA and D.O.T. standards.
- Process specimens and complete all related documentation in accordance with D.O.T. guidelines.
- Follow chain of custody procedures to ensure specimen integrity and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Log patient visits and services provided in appropriate systems.
- Assist the coordinator with setting up new service profiles and collection sites nationwide.
- Answer phone calls, manage logs, maintain supply inventories, and file documents.
- Assist with random pool management and coordinate DOT audits as needed.
- Provide support to Occupational Health clinic staff for daily operations.
- Collaborate with team members and assist the Coordinator with other tasks as needed.
- Perform breath alcohol testing as a certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), adhering to D.O.T. protocols.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, staying up‑to‑date on any changes.
- Generate and provide lab reports as required.
- Set up forms and ensure documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations.
- Call clients to report negative test results and provide written documentation.
- Assist the MRO with the review and disposition of positive test results.
