Position SummaryThe Convention Services Set Up Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the set-up and break down of all event spaces in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Ensuring all meeting spaces and event areas are properly set by physically setting and arranging event spaces to guest satisfaction prior to the start of the event, as well as break down at the end of the event.
This includes moving and placing heavy tables, setting chairs, installing portable walls, and transporting event equipment. This candidate is a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Supervise and assist Convention Services Set Up Attendants with setting rooms according to the event specifications and with clean up and break-down after events.
- Assist with planning, organization and execution of all event functions.
- Greet clients/guests and respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
- Participate in and lead department meetings, as needed.
- Ensure each meeting space is maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Confirm room set up requirements including layout specifications, equipment needs, and any special instructions.
- Break down and remove all equipment at the end of each event, returning items to their proper storage locations.
- Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.
- Must be available to work evening shifts and support a fast-paced environment.
- Communicates effectively – Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. Understands setup instructions, diagrams, and event details.
- Manages complexity – Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Plans and aligns – Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
- High school diploma preferred
- Prior hotel or event setup experience preferred
- Previous leadership preferred, but will train the right candidate
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment regularly
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task and adapt well to daily changes
- Ability to lead a team and delegate tasks
- Must be able to communicate well with both internal and external guests
