Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Warden, the incumbent will conduct investigations and resolve resident complaints on institution rules, policies, practices, and individual staff actions from institution residents. The incumbent will also provide other investigative services for the Warden and his/her designee, other institutions by request, Department of Corrections, Division of Adult Institutions, and work with law enforcement agencies. The incumbent will make recommendations to the Warden regarding disposition of the complaints and other investigations, initiate necessary action to implement the decision, and monitor until its completion, coordinating Institution Complaint Office activities;
keeping files and records on all investigations; conducting orientation on the Inmate Complaint Review System (ICRS) for residents and staff; preparing reports, correspondence and responses to inquiries.
This position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 with a starting pay of $27.70/hour - $37.82/hour, plus excellent benefits. This position is also eligible for additional pay of $5/hour for all hours worked. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre‑employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre‑employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:- Conducting and/or coordinating investigations utilizing investigatory techniques (e.g., interviewing techniques, handling and preserving evidence, record keeping, reports).
- Interpreting laws, rules, and organizational policies (e.g., to staff and others, including the general public).
- Interpreting, implementing, and monitoring investigative resolutions, corrective actions, policies and procedures to ensure compliance (e.g., from staff, managers, agencies, the general public, other appropriate parties).
- Preparing an investigation summary report and making recommendations based on results for administrative action and resolution.
- Responding to litigation and providing assistance for other staff responding to litigation requests as needed in the criminal justice field.
