Facilities Maintenance Assistant

W.E. Hoban Company is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Assistant for our brand-new facility in Green Bay, WI. Everything here is new, from the building to the equipment, and we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work to help keep it looking and operating at its best. You'll help care for our facility through custodial and grounds work, basic repairs and maintenance, while supporting our manufacturing operations. What you'll do:

  • Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties throughout office, common, and production areas, including sweeping, mopping, floor cleaning, wiping down commonly used surfaces, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, cafeterias, break rooms, offices, and other designated areas as needed.
  • Performs periodic deep cleaning and detailed cleaning tasks, including thorough floor care and equipment wipe-downs, utilizing cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuums.
  • Operates and maintains cleaning equipment in proper working condition and uses cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines.
  • Performs minor repairs and light-duty facility maintenance, including replacing light bulbs and fixtures, addressing minor plumbing issues, touch-up painting, and other general building upkeep tasks.
  • Performs basic maintenance and upkeep of shop and production equipment, including checking and replenishing oil and fluid levels and assisting with basic troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Assists maintenance and production personnel with general shop tasks, equipment upkeep, and other maintenance-related activities as needed.
  • Maintains inventory of tools, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage and organization.
  • Coordinates with outside service providers, such as pest control, including scheduling services, providing facility access, and supporting the completion of facility-related work as required.
  • Identifies and reports facility maintenance concerns, equipment deficiencies, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Performs general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, weed removal, debris collection, and landscape upkeep using equipment such as riding and push mowers, string trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Performs seasonal snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, and designated walkways using shovels, snow blowers, and walk-behind snowplows, and applies salt and de-icing materials to maintain safe conditions.
  • May operate a company vehicle to transport supplies, run errands between company facilities, or obtain materials from local suppliers as needed.
  • Assists in examining the facility for safety hazards and reports deficiencies to management or the Safety Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions, including SDS requirements.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Ability to keep the facility clean and orderly.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, with the ability to safely operate a company vehicle for occasional errands between facilities or to local suppliers.
  • Willingness to learn basic manufacturing equipment operation and light mechanical maintenance tasks.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, grounds keeping, or general maintenance preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting a plus.
