A large, high-volume manufacturing operation in the Green Bay area is seeking a Logistics & Distribution Manager to lead a 24/7 shipping, receiving, yard, and warehousing function.
This role is responsible for driving safe execution, reliable shipment performance, strong labor relations, and cost control across inbound and outbound logistics. The operation supports approximately 150 truckloads per day and includes both on-site and off-site warehouse activity.
What You’ll Own- Full responsibility for daily shipping, receiving, and yard activity in a high-volume environment
- Leadership of a union hourly workforce (approximately 50 employees) plus a small salaried planning team
- Oversight of carrier sourcing, scheduling, and freight exception management
- Accountability for inventory accuracy, product flow, and warehouse discipline
- Management of a third-party warehouse partner
- Execution of service commitments and continuous improvement in logistics performance
- Establish and enforce safe work practices and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
- Lead supervisors and hourly teams across shipping, receiving, inventory, and yard operations
- Build strong labor relationships while maintaining performance expectations and accountability
- Develop and execute transportation plans to meet business requirements and service levels
- Negotiate freight rates and manage carrier performance and reliability
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvements to reduce delays, waste, and cost
- Maintain alignment with production, procurement, and customer service partners
- Support forecasting, capacity planning, and budget development for logistics and freight
- Monitor KPIs tied to safety, service, productivity, and cost
- 10+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or transportation leadership
- Experience leading operations in a high-volume, 24/7 environment strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success managing a union workforce
- Strong knowledge of freight operations, warehousing, and inventory control
- Comfort working across systems such as ERP, WMS, and/or TMS
- A hands‑on leader who is visible on the floor and thrives in a fast‑paced setting
This is an on‑site position based in Green Bay, WI (not remote or hybrid).
