The Plastic Process Technician is responsible for setting up, optimizing, troubleshooting, and maintaining injection molding processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role requires a hands‑on, detail‑oriented technician with strong experience in large‑tonnage injection molding machines (300–1500 tons), mold setup, auxiliary equipment, and process optimization.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skills, a positive, proactive attitude, and a continuous‑improvement mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Injection Molding Process & Machine Setup- Set up and start injection molding machines ranging from 300 to 1500 tons
- Perform mold installation, alignment, clamping, and hookup (water, hydraulics, electrical, hot runner)
- Establish and optimize molding parameters including injection speed, pressure, holding, screw speed, back pressure, cooling time, and cycle time
- Ensure stable, repeatable processes meeting quality, safety, and productivity targets
- Diagnose and correct common molding defects including short shots, flash, sink marks, warp, burn marks, splay, voids, and dimensional variation
- Troubleshoot machine, mold, and material‑related issues
- Reduce scrap, downtime, and cycle time through systematic process improvements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (OEE, scrap reduction, cycle optimization)
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot material dryers & loaders, chillers, hot runner systems, and valve gate controllers
- Monitor and adjust temperature profiles for barrel, mold, and hot runner systems
- Verify proper material handling, drying parameters, and moisture control

Starting Salary: $70K anually.
Workweek:
Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in plastic injection molding
- Proven experience with 300–1500 ton injection molding machines
- Strong knowledge of injection molding fundamentals and process control, mold setup and changeovers, and troubleshooting molding defects
- Hands‑on experience with dryers, chillers, hot runners, temperature controllers, and valve gate systems
- Ability to read and understand process sheets, mold drawings, and technical manuals
- Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
