You will work on a variety of equipment, including conveyors, vision systems, suction systems, servo motors, belts, and wrappers, with a strong focus on improving reliability and transitioning from primarily reactive maintenance to a more preventative approach. This role requires strict adherence to food safety protocols and comfort working in a colder production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on production equipment such as conveyors, vision systems, suction systems, servo motors, belts, and wrapping equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in an industrial environment and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Support the transition from predominantly reactive maintenance to a more preventative and predictive maintenance approach as the team builds out.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and consistent production output.
  • Follow and enforce food safety protocols and plant-specific procedures to maintain a safe and compliant food manufacturing environment.
  • Work effectively as part of an 8-person maintenance crew, collaborating with other technicians, operators, and supervisors to resolve equipment issues.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support continuous improvement and maintenance planning.
  • Support highly automated production lines, including a newly added third line, by maintaining automation components and ensuring proper operation of sensors and vision systems.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner and prioritize tasks based on production needs and safety considerations.
  • Adapt to working on both day and night shifts as part of the 2-2-3 schedule, providing consistent maintenance coverage across the facility.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of maintenance experience within an industrial setting, with hands-on exposure to both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical issues on production and packaging equipment.
  • Experience working on conveyors, servo motors, belts, wrappers, and automated production lines.
  • Ability to work with and maintain vision systems and sensors used in automated equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effective reactive maintenance while supporting a shift toward preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to food safety protocols in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working in a colder production environment typical of food processing facilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal training, using prior experience to make sound maintenance decisions.
  • Willingness and ability to work a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts (5 a.m.–5 p.m. and 5 p.m.–5 a.m.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance experience in a food production or food processing facility.
  • Experience supporting highly automated production lines with conveyors, servo motors, photo-eyes, and vision systems.
  • Familiarity with working in a team-based maintenance department of similar size.
  • Comfort working under a new maintenance leadership structure focused on building out the team and improving processes.
