Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator

The Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator builds strong community relationships while helping grow awareness and support for The Salvation Army's mission throughout Greater Green Bay. Working closely with the Director of Development, this role leads volunteer recruitment, training, coordination, recognition, and retention, while also supporting fundraising, special events, and seasonal initiatives. This position connects community members, businesses, donors, and volunteers with meaningful opportunities to make a difference and helps create positive, engaging experiences that strengthen The Salvation Army's impact in the community.

This full time exempt role has a pay rate of $53,000-$59,000/ year dependent on skills and experience. The position offers a generous benefits package that includes excellent health, dental, vision, and hearing insurance as well as paid time off that includes 15 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days per year (6 of which can be taken like vacation days), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and the ability to earn an additional 2 days of PTO through our wellness program.

This position will work in close collaboration with the Director of Development in cultivating community relationships, increasing awareness of The Salvation Army's mission, and expanding opportunities throughout the Greater Green Bay Community. This position is also responsible for the recruitment, coordination, training, recognition, and retention of volunteers, as well as the planning, preparation, and execution of designated special events and seasonal initiatives.

The Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator maintains a thorough understanding of all Salvation Army programs to effectively match volunteers with appropriate service opportunities across departments. This role serves as a key liaison between The Salvation Army and community stakeholders, helping to strengthen volunteer involvement, supporting fundraising and development efforts, and enhancing the organization's impact within the community.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and place volunteers, including identifying and creating new volunteer opportunities in coordination with staff.
  • Utilize and maintain the Golden volunteer management system and manage necessary records, reports, and other data functions related to volunteers.
  • Cultivate, evaluate, recognize, and steward relationships with volunteers to promote a positive volunteer experience and encourage long-term involvement.
  • Screen prospective volunteers and community service workers and coordinate the orientation and placement process.
  • Collaborate with all Officers and/or program directors of Green Bay Corps and Kroc to establish and support volunteer needs for all departments and locations.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal staff for the Red Kettle Christmas campaign.
  • Serve as the lead role for volunteer recruitment, coordination, and communication efforts associated with the Red Kettle Christmas campaign.
