Healthcare Nursing, RN Nurse
Provides or directs client care utilizing the nursing process within an assigned area. As a member of the treatment team, coordinates the total care of all clients and provides client education.
Additional pay incentives for working PM shift and NOC shift, as well as when working weekends
Additional special assignment pay for .2, .4, and on-call positions
All part-time and full-time nursing positions work every other weekend
Administers or directs the administration of medications and treatments. Initiates and/or assists with emergency and crisis intervention measures. Provides and/or directs client education. Initiates and contributes to client discharge planning. Complies with departmental Quality Assurance Standards and participates in Quality Assurance monitoring. Assists Unit Manager in the completion of position appraisals of Nursing Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses. Participates in the orientation of new personnel.
Makes unit rounds and attends staffings with physicians, recording physician observations and orders. Inputs MDS (Minimum Data Set) data in the nursing facility.
Performs related functions as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. One (1) year experience as staff RN, one (1) year of experience in mental health/AODA fields preferred but, not required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and, experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Licenses and
Certifications:
Current RN license from Wisconsin or, one of Wisconsin's compact states. Must possess a temporary license license at the time of hire, if not licensed as a Registered Nurse or ability to obtain valid registration within 90 days of employment. CPR certification. Knowledge and understanding of the terminology, theory, techniques and practices of professional nursing. Knowledge of a variety of medications along with their side effects, side actions and contraindications.
Knowledge of basic abnormal behaviors and major mental illnesses. Knowledge of alcohol and other drug abuse dynamics, programs and treatment methods. Knowledge of adult medical problems and treatment approaches. Ability to initiate, maintain and implement an Integrated Care Plan. Ability to analyze symptoms and conditions and apply sound nursing principles in making decisions. Ability to maintain appropriate client caseload. Ability to deal with stress associated with threatening and/or unpredictable client behavior.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff and the public. Ability to accept and adapt to change. Ability to understand and carry out polices and procedures governing patient care. Ability to demonstrate leadership skills to direct and coordinate health team members. Ability to lead, direct and supervise the work of fellow
employees. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Lifting 50 pounds maximum with the assistance of another person, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Extended periods of standing, walking and sitting.
Using hand(s) for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling and operating controls.
Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing and reaching; occasional grappling and swimming.
Communicating orally in a clear manner.
Distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes.
Distinguishing people or objects at varied distances under a variety of light conditions.
Must be free from communicable disease.
