Registered Nurse (RN) | Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma
Location: Watertown, WI
Agency: Magnet Medical
Pay: $2,074 per week
Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 7/13/2026
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) provides critical care to patients in urgent or emergent conditions. The RN works in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, delivering immediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or trauma. They assess, triage, and treat patients in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Triage and Patient Assessment:
- Perform initial assessments of patients presenting in the ER, including triaging based on severity.
- Evaluate patient history, conduct physical assessments, and identify urgent health issues to prioritize care.
- Collect vital signs and other relevant data to determine immediate care needs.
- Emergency Care and Treatment:
- Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as prescribed (IV fluids, antibiotics, pain management).
- Perform wound care, splinting, suturing, and other interventions for trauma or injury.
- Provide life-saving interventions (CPR, ACLS, trauma care) and assist in resuscitation efforts.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Assist with diagnostic testing (lab work, imaging, ECG) as needed.
- Communicate updates to the healthcare team.
- Monitoring and Documentation:
- Continuously monitor patients' conditions and document assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the EHR.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and hospital standards.
- Patient and Family Communication:
- Provide clear explanations of diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans.
- Offer emotional support to patients and families.
- Advocate for patients' needs and coordinate care.
- Infection Control and Safety:
- Follow infection control protocols and use PPE.
- Maintain a safe and sterile ER environment.
- Respond to biohazard situations.
- Crisis Management:
- Handle a wide range of emergencies using critical thinking.
- Manage high-stress situations calmly.
- Prioritize care based on acuity and resources.
- Patient Discharge and Follow-Up:
- Provide discharge instructions and next steps.
- Educate patients on preventive measures and post-discharge care.
- Teamwork and Mentorship:
- Collaborate with ER staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Mentor new nurses, students, and less experienced staff.
