Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse Float (LPN Float) is responsible for pre‑visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions, and carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. This position is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the visit. The role will support multiple locations.
Employment Conditions40 hours per week; floats across various specialties (Endocrinology, Allergy, Nephrology, Pulmonology, and Infectious Disease) and supports multiple sites.
Responsibilities- Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
- Coordinate provider schedules and appointments, enter orders, and prepare patient charts.
- Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
- Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in‑office procedures and administer medications/immunizations.
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment to meet infection control standards; ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.
- Work at multiple sites with variable shifts at the supervisor’s direction to cover leaves of absence, PTO, or department demands.
- Current clinical experience as a licensed practical nurse.

- Knowledge of principles and skills needed to provide patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to provide patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors to foster work and patient relationships.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Valid Practical Nursing license issued by the state of WI.
- CPR/Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from an approved program (Upon Hire Required).
- Sit occasionally, stand occasionally.
