Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse at Prevea plays a crucial role as an integral member of our clinic team, delivering patient-centered care. Responsible for triaging incoming calls from patients and families, assessing their needs, giving appropriate advice, and facilitating appointments with physicians and advanced provider clinicians. The Registered Nurse position will also provide hands‑on direct patient care as needed. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of exceptional and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Prevea's policy.
Through collaborative practice with members of the Prevea team, they are responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by Prevea.
- Manage patient/family health concerns through telephone triage and consultation, actively seeking information to understand patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs.
- Facilitate caller’s access to the appropriate level of care by assessing needs and offering clinical options using medical judgement within scope of licensure, and referring to healthcare providers, services, and community resources as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans that ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
- Conduct follow‑up telephone calls to patients requiring additional care or to provide test results, and provide health counseling and education about their healthcare and follow‑up instructions.
- Provide direct patient care, including rooming patients, obtaining medical information, performing comprehensive initial patient assessments, and maintaining patient charts/records. Assist the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider with procedures, note instructions and arrange necessary actions.
- Assist with medication administration and communicate key information with patients, physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Graduation from an accredited and approved Nursing program – required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – preferred.
- RN experience – preferred.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and professional behaviors.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to create a safe work environment.
- Competence in patient education and teaching.
- Ability to assist providers with exams, tests, and treatments.
- Strong patient assessment skills both in person and on the phone in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to administer immunizations and medications.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license with the state of WI – required upon hire.
- CPR/BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) from an approved program – required upon hire.
