Overview
Food Service Worker - Part-time/On-call at COUNTY OF BROWN. This role requires the ability to work weekends and holidays and involves standard food service duties in a healthcare or institutional setting.
Responsibilities- Assist in the portioning of meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, fruits, desserts, bakery, juices and nourishments.
- Dish and serve food for client tray lines and resident households while adhering to standardized portions and menu.
- Maintain proper temperature and handling of hot and cold foods.
- Assess food quality by tasting, smelling and checking temperatures; portion for individual servings and prepare or direct distribution of food to tray lines.
- Follow established menus and therapeutic diets, making and documenting changes with the Dietitian’s direction.
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots and pans; clean and sanitize food service equipment, dining tables and chairs.
- Remove garbage, sweep and mop dining rooms and department floors.
- Maintain safety, sanitation and order of work areas and equipment, including storeroom, coolers and freezers; report repairs and maintenance needs.
- Record and maintain necessary departmental documentation per applicable requirements, codes and policies.
- Receive deliveries, check against specifications, purchase orders and invoices.
- Stock shelves and floor stock; maintain confidentiality of client and business information.
- Interact with clients and residents in a therapeutic manner and assist with training of new staff.
- Complete required departmental documentation and perform related functions as assigned.
- Knowledge of working with food service equipment and food preparation tasks.
- Knowledge of hygiene, sanitary regulations and safety hazards in a kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of standard measurements and ability to interact with clients and residents in a therapeutic manner.
- Ability to organize and plan activities; understand and follow policies and procedures; communicate effectively; maintain confidentiality of patient/resident and business information.
- Ability to meet time schedules and work the required hours; lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance, frequent lifting up to 30 pounds, extended standing, occasional sitting and walking.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling; occasional climbing; good sensory abilities for hearing and vision in varied conditions.

- Position type:
Part-time (.35 FTE);
On-call eligible for additional special assignment pay. - Pay: starting USD/hour for part-time; on-call base rate 16.00 USD/hour, with potential for assignment pay.

County facilities; shifts may include weekends and holidays.
