What You’ll Earn
  • Paid training: $15 per hour for 2‑6 weeks (varies by location)
  • After training: hourly base pay + uncapped commissions + bonus opportunities
  • Average annual earnings: $45,000‑$65,000+ (including base, bonus, and commission)
  • 3% commission on La‑Z‑Boy Design Sales, 2% on other sales.
  • Quarterly bonus opportunity of $1,500 based on individual sales goals.
  • Base hourly pay: $11 per hour (varies by store location).
Job Description

Key Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)

  • Drive sales to contribute to store goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services.
  • Promote the Design program and assist the Designer to achieve sales goals.
  • Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and strive to provide a favorable experience to all customers.
  • Develop and utilize sales skills and principles including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, answering objections, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service, and continuing contact with all previous and potential customers.
  • Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the features and benefits of existing and new product lines.
  • Schedule professional home consultations for customized room designs, sample fabrics, furniture, tables, accessory recommendations, and benefits of professional installation service.
  • Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines.
  • Support design‑related functions in the store.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service using good customer service skills and product knowledge while following the company selling process.
  • Use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow‑up.
  • Make sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote a team environment.
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails and handle customer issues or complaints, providing appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all store employees.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing new peers on product knowledge and selling process/skills.
  • Promote and champion a culture of sales and service.
  • Assist with maintenance of the overall visual appearance of the store, including displays, tagging products, accessory catalogs, design center fabrics, floor moves, and general cleanliness.
  • Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, maintain customer records, and research payments and deliveries.
  • Complete daily On‑Point system logs.
  • Show urgency, enthusiasm, and excitement with the store team and customers.
  • Maintain knowledge of company standards, product knowledge, and internal processes and systems.
  • Schedule deliveries with customers.
  • Open and close the store.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous selling experience and ability to close a sale strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and positively influence.
  • Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage time and conflicting priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work productively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Initiative to meet assigned goals, missions, and objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screen.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; stand for long periods; repetitive hand motions; hearing and listening; sit, walk, bend, and stoop; subject to indoor environmental conditions; may require background and drug screening.
