Job Summary
As a Design Associate at La‑Z‑Boy, you help customers create spaces they love while building lasting relationships through consultative sales. You receive paid training, mentorship from experienced designers, and opportunities to grow a career with an industry‑leading brand.
Key Responsibilities- Drive sales and contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories and services offered by La‑Z‑Boy.
- Promote the Design program and assist designers to achieve established sales goals.
- Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and strive to provide a favorable experience to all customers.
- Develop and utilize sales skills and principles including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, answering objections, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service and continuing contact with all current and potential customers.
- Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
- Maintain strong knowledge of existing and new product lines.
- Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables and accessory recommendations and the benefits of a professional installation service.
- Execute and champion the Design process following established company guidelines.
- Support design related functions in the store.
- Provide the highest level of customer service and ensure each La‑Z‑Boy customer has an informative and positive experience.
- Use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow‑up.
- Make sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote a team environment.
- Respond to incoming phone calls and emails and handle customer issues and/or complaints with appropriate solutions.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all store employees.
- Assist in training, coaching and developing new peers on product knowledge and selling process to achieve store sales goals.
- Maintain visual appearance of the store, including floor and showroom displays, tagging products and accessories, maintaining accessory catalogs, design center fabrics, supporting floor moves and general cleanliness.
- Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, keep orderly customer records, and research customer payments and deliveries.
- Accurately complete daily On‑Point system logs.
- Schedule deliveries with customers.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous selling experience and ability to close a sale strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate, build rapport, and positively influence.
- Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage time and conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work productively with others as a team.
- Ability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Initiative to meet assigned goals, missions and objectives and motivation to achieve more.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.

Benefits for Employees in the US- Training Pay: $15 per hour for 2‑6 weeks (no commission).
- Average Annual Earning Potential after training: $45,000 – $65,000+ (incl. base, bonus, and commission).
- Post‑Training Pay:
Base pay varies by store location. - Commission:
Uncapped commission on written sales, 3% on Design Sales and 2% on other sales. - Quarterly bonus opportunity up to $1,500 based on meeting individual sales goals.
- Weekly hours: 40.
- Medical, Vision, Dental, Basic Life Insurance; 401(k) with up to 6% company match.
- Paid time off: 9‑11 paid holidays; two weeks prorated vacation for new hires; personal time or sick time as applicable.
Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; stand for long periods; repetitive hand motions; hearing and listening; sit, walk, bend, stoop; inside environmental conditions; pass background and drug screen.
