The Wisconsin DNR is hiring an LTE (Limited Term Employee) Water Resources Management Specialist - Senior at our offices in Madison, WI.
Position SummaryThis position will coordinate the citizen monitoring program in the Northeast Lakeshore, Upper/Lower Fox and Wolf River TMDL areas of East District. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, educating and assisting volunteers to accomplish the volunteer monitoring program goals, collecting accurate and reliable water quality data, engaging the public in citizen science, evaluating long‑term effectiveness of TMDL implementation, and delivering information about management practices that benefit water quality.
The position will collaborate with Water Quality staff, other DNR programs, and partners for planning, evaluating, tracking, and reporting on TMDL implementation progress. It will also develop and implement surface water quality monitoring plans, assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation in targeted areas.
- 30% Coordinate the surface water volunteer monitoring programs in the Northeast Lakeshore, Lower Fox, Upper Fox, Wolf by recruiting, training, and educating citizen volunteers; manage program to ensure consistent, accurate, and reliable data is collected to support TMDL education and implementation efforts.
- 40% Develop evaluation metrics and reports on watershed restoration implementation progress. Gather data from partners and ensure proper tracking and reporting.
- 10% Develop and provide outreach materials regarding the various citizen monitoring programs, TMDL Implementation progress, and water quality conditions to various groups. Provide presentations, news articles, social media posts, etc.
- 10% Prepare annual reports with water quality results and develop educational materials that support the growth of the program and demonstrate the successes of the TMDL program.
- 10% Perform other position related duties as assigned by the TMDL Coordinator, Water Quality Biologist, and District Supervisor.
This position pays between $20.77 - $21.32 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 15-03. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
