What You Will Do
  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Contact the customer representative to ascertain equipment/systems problems.
  • Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, modification notices, and similar documents to repair equipment.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install many different manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems including Simplex Grinnell.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphones and laptops.
  • Obtain customer signature upon completion of a service call assignment.
  • Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and help train or mentor others on the service team.
  • Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items; act as a trusted advisor by providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
How You Will Do It
  • Troubleshoot and repair installed systems, including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low‑voltage circuit troubles, and system testing.
  • Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and outstanding customer service skills.
  • Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
  • Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is a plus.
  • Complete and submit all required task‑related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • On‑call and after‑hours work is required on occasion at customer need.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Required
  • 4+ years documented experience in low‑voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals. Knowledge of test equipment, multimeter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capacity to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50–70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in unusual and difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Preferred
  • NICET Level I certification (strongly preferred).
Compensation

Hirring hourly rate: $25.19 – $34.66 per hour, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
