SUMMARYInstall, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems in an industrial setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Maintain utility systems to provide continuous supply of cooled water, electric power, gas, and air required for operations.
- Assess situations and react quickly in emergencies.
- Stay abreast of new products and technology in Plant Engineering and Maintenance to improve department efficiency.
- Maintain facilities and equipment to meet safety, environmental, security, quality, production, and non-production demands.
- Promote safety as top priority on the production floor.
- Repair and update recommended items from monthly safety audits.
- Correct safety issues as necessary to ensure a safe work environment.
- Work extended hours and be on call nights and weekends for emergencies.
- Act on job requests from all company personnel, prioritise and schedule valid requests, and deny those not in the company’s best interest.
- Assist outside contractors with installation and/or repair of equipment.
- Collaborate with safety, training, production, and other departments.
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment and coordinate with production & other departments.
- Daily inspection of cooling systems, air compressors, general equipment, etc.
- Monthly inspection of exit lights, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, metal hammers, hoists, AED, water softener, ladders, air compressor filters, ARC flash equipment, etc.
- Maintain continuity of maintenance operations from one shift to the next; interact with 2nd and 3rd shifts daily.
- Read and sometimes modify electrical and mechanical machine prints (American, foreign, and hydraulic).
- Use computer literacy to communicate with all departments as needed.
- Be knowledgeable about Plant Engineering and Maintenance functions to keep the plant running day‑to‑day.
- Operate machine shop equipment: lathe turning, surface grinding, welding.
- Perform other duties as required and directed by management.
Bachelor’s degree (B.
A.) from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
