The Journeyman Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, calibration, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, control panels, and food processing equipment. This position supports both in-house manufacturing operations and customer installations by ensuring all electrical systems are installed and maintained in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and customer specifications. The Journeyman Electrical Technician plays a key role in delivering high-quality solutions while promoting a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, wire, test, troubleshoot, and commission electrical control panels and systems for new and existing equipment.
  • Install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical equipment, instrumentation, controls, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and related components.
  • Perform electrical installations at customer facilities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and customer requirements.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, blueprints, and technical documentation to accurately complete installations and repairs.
  • Assemble UL 508A industrial control panels while maintaining compliance with UL standards and company quality requirements.
  • Install, configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical instruments, sensors, transmitters, control devices, and pneumatic components.
  • Diagnose electrical and control system failures using electrical testing equipment and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on electrical systems, equipment, and facility utilities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Verify completed work meets National Electrical Code (NEC), UL requirements, OSHA standards, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service work, inspections, testing, calibrations, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and customers to support project completion and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel to customer sites as required for equipment installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while consistently following company safety policies and procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating professionally and representing Koss Industrial in a positive manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent combination of education, training, and industrial electrical experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial electrical systems and controls.
  • Demonstrated experience assembling, diagnosing, repairing, and commissioning industrial electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    Industrial motors, Transformers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motor controls, PLC-controlled equipment, Electrical systems up to 600 volts.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Experience assembling UL 508A control panels is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), UL requirements, OSHA regulations, and electrical safety best practices.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, megohm meters, clamp meters, and calibration tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while working independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as business needs require.
