Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in maintaining and repairing trailers, with a strong understanding of DOT regulations and compliance standards. This role is critical in ensuring our fleet is maintained to meet both regulatory and company preventative maintenance (PM) standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on trailers to meet company PM standards.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on trailers.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet DOT compliance regulations.
  • Inspect and maintain critical components, including brakes, tires, axles, and hubs.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical and lighting systems to ensure functionality.
  • Compile detailed maintenance records, repair logs, and inspection reports.
  • Work closely with management to ensure timely repairs and fleet readiness.
  • Stay updated on DOT regulations and company PM protocols.
  • Respond promptly to urgent repair requests to minimize fleet downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good condition.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a trailer mechanic or in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and protocols.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
