Maintenance Mechanic

Green Bay Shipping Container Division is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our steel shipping containers and yard equipment in safe, reliable working order. In this hands-on role, you'll inspect, troubleshoot, and repair containers, doors, locking systems, chassis, and related mechanical components using welding, cutting, and basic fabrication tools. You'll perform preventive maintenance, track work orders, and follow safety and quality standards.

This position works closely with operations and yard staff in a practical, safety-focused environment that values reliability, problem-solving, and efficient, customer-oriented service.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair steel shipping containers, doors, and locking systems
• Perform preventive maintenance on containers, yard equipment, and related mechanical components
• Use welding, cutting, and basic fabrication tools to restore and modify containers
• Diagnose mechanical issues and determine repair methods and parts needed
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts usage
• Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
• Collaborate with operations and yard staff to prioritize and complete work orders
• Operate forklifts or yard equipment as needed to move and stage containers
• Identify recurring maintenance issues and recommend improvements
• Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in safe working condition
