Early Intervention Specialist

Responsible for supporting the outcomes that families have identified for themselves and their children. Participates on a team of individuals from multiples disciplines having expertise in child development, family support and coaching.

Job duties

  • Helps create an environment that supports reflective learning practices, social interaction, and positive relationships. Assists with crisis prevention and intervention.
  • Provides services through a Primary Coach Approach to Teaming model. Uses a coaching interaction style that focuses on supporting family members/caregivers to promote child learning through every day, interest-based activities.
  • Actively coaches team members at weekly team meetings, sharing effective techniques and best practice.
  • Works directly with families and children to promote child development, serving as a resource to staff and family offering a variety of techniques to reach developmental goals.
  • Maintains necessary paperwork and records to satisfy county billing, MA billing, regulatory requirements and standards, insurance, and accrediting sources.
  • Assists families in any transitions: review process, forwarding records, attending meetings, transition from Birth to Three.
  • Other duties as needed.

Hours:

Core hours are 7:30 am - 4 pm, however, some evening hours to fulfill the needs of families and the team; a hybrid work model to include office time, remote and in the community.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in early childhood special education (preferred), child development, special education, developmental psychology, social work, or related field.

Licensure:
Holds a DPI (808 or 809) preferred or a licensure or certification within a specific discipline or will get certification/license upon hire.

One year experience working with families and young children with specials needs in a home-based setting (preferred). Experience working with parents and sensitivity to parents' needs.

A working cell phone is required, or one will be provided.

A valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing stairs. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee works in varied residential or public environments based on assigned families.
