DREAM Staff

As a D.R.E.A.M (Disability, Recreation, Experience, And Memories) Staff, you support programs filled with a variety of engaging activities to feed the mind, body and spirit of adults with cognitive and physical disabilities. Activities are designed to enhance social and emotional connections and to help strengthen communities by building relationships based on the Y’s core values and foster an atmosphere where participants make important connections with each other at the Y.

Schedule is the first and third Tuesday of every month.

• Assist in planning and organizing activities and events for participants including, set up, cleanup and checking participants in during events.
• Instruct participants in a group setting for activities such as exercise classes, pool activities and various crafts and ensure each member is appropriately challenged.
• Greet and engage all participants so each feels welcome.
• In the event of an emergency you will serve as a support to the first responders.
• Support Annual fundraising initiatives.
• Respect and maintain participant/staff confidentiality at all times.
• Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes:
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children.
• Attend required abuse risk management training.
• Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be energetic, positive, patient, flexible, and punctual.
• Ability to be creative, innovative and motivating disabled adults in a positive manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively to program audience.

Moving about freely to assist coworkers in other work stations is important. Assisting participants in exercise related activities and as a safety responder, the ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, move quickly, and/or lift at least 30 pounds will be necessary.

  Connect people to the Y’s cause by developing inclusive relationships and collaboration. Create sustainable relationships within the Y. Assist members in becoming more connected to the Y and build small communities.

  As a cause driven leader you will support the Y, its members, participants, and staff by living the Y’s values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY in all interactions and aspects of job performance and demonstrate the desire to serve others and fulfill community needs.
• Safety:
  Adhere to and enforce safety policies and procedures for the Association and school. Ensure staff and volunteers are trained and systems are in place to ensure the safety and security of each student. Closely monitor attendance of each student to ensure all are accounted for.
