Overview

The Senior Full Stack Engineer – Platform & Architecture is a hands‑on technical lead responsible for the design, development, and modernization of applications and platforms that support the Wisconsin Medicaid Market. The role spans front‑end, back‑end, database, integrations, and hosting, and emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and the setting of technical direction across two independent health‑plan technology stacks.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of applications and platforms across the Wisconsin Medicaid Market, covering front‑end, back‑end, data, integrations, and hosting.
  • Work across multiple insurance core administration platforms rather than a single domain.
  • Architect and design technology solutions, presenting clear, pragmatic patterns that standardize approaches and improve efficiency.
  • Identify and address technical debt and reliability gaps to enhance scalability, supportability, and operational outcomes.
  • Support modernization efforts, including migration from legacy implementations to modern patterns with a focus on automation and repeatability.
  • Partner with IT leadership, enterprise architects, and platform teams to align decisions with enterprise standards and long‑term direction.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and HIPAA requirements, applying security‑as‑code and appropriate controls in delivery pipelines.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions and code reviews; coach on delivery practices (testing, CI/CD, observability) and model effective use of Humana‑approved AI and code‑generation tools.
  • Balance hands‑on delivery with technical leadership (architecture decisions, alignment, and coaching) as priorities evolve.
Skills & Capabilities
  • Deep experience building and modernizing full‑stack applications, including Microsoft .NET, SQL Server, and Azure.
  • Proficient in Dev Ops practices: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code, security‑as‑code, and developer‑experience automation.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑native patterns, containers, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS).
  • Strong focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence—monitoring, logging, alerting, runbook documentation, incident root‑cause analysis.
  • Cross‑domain systems thinking with the ability to simplify workflows across insurance core systems.
  • Architecture‑minded engineering: assessing technical debt and recommending pragmatic improvements.
  • Modernization skills: refactoring legacy technology for performance and supportability.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI‑assisted development and code‑generation tools; familiarity with Humana‑approved tooling (e.g., Windsurf/Codeium) is highly preferred.
  • Thrives in autonomous, high‑trust environments; capable of wearing multiple hats and collaborating across teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing, developing, and testing software applications and/or infrastructure.
  • Passion for improving consumer experiences within a mission‑driven organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
Work‑At‑Home Requirements
  • Ability to provide high‑speed DSL or cable modem; minimum download speed 25 Mbps and upload 10 Mbps.
  • Dedicated, interruption‑free space to protect PHI/HIPAA information.
Benefits

Competitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k); paid time off; sick leave; paid parental and caregiver leave; short‑term and long‑term disability; life insurance; and other workplace benefits.
