We are looking for an Environmental Field Technician to join our team in Green River, Wyoming. The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Forestry, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, or other related disciplines.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and run projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated education and understanding of environmental testing, practices, and procedures.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with site personnel and vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment and effectively interface with high-level business and operations leaders.
- Experience in performing analytical testing and managing database records.
- Ability to explain complex environmental regulations and procedures in lay terms to non-technical groups.
- Performs field work associated with data gathering and operation of various environmental processes that the company is committed to through its permits with Wyoming DEQ.
- Tailings Basin Management. Directs activities of tailings placement in the Upper Delta basin and, longer term, placement in Pond 2 system. Activities include communicating with Operations on cell-to-cell placement and management of tailings placement. Coordinates with Area Leaders and shift supervisors with regards to placement of tailings into these areas.
- Deca/Pond Management. Manages deca harvest program and overall pond management program including monitoring of site water balance. Interfaces and coordinates with the technical group, environmental group, operations and directing the contractors to execute planned activities that support the goals of the overall deca/pond management program.
- Groundwater Management/Monitoring, Waterfowl Program, Safety of Dams, Monitoring of Roads and Access. Requires interface with technical experts and contractors accomplishing the work. Coordinate and monitor groundwater wells throughout the facility. Report results and coordinate with contract engineering for overall modeling efforts for various agencies. Monitor dams and roads in and around the pond complex and direct all activities for maintenance and repair to various contractors.
- Sampling, data collection and input to files. Monitoring of the data collection systems to ensure proper operation and functioning. Systems include an ambient air monitoring station, weather station, and various air emission points through the facility. Trains measure opacity visually by attending opacity school training each calendar year.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
- Performs tasks in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems established according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO standards.
