Overview
The Green River Police Department is accepting applications for Crossing Guards for the current and upcoming school years.
Responsibilities- Reports to the Patrol Captain at the Green River Police Department.
- Does not exercise supervision over other positions.
Stop vehicular traffic on assigned street at assigned location to help children safely cross to and from school.
Give instructions to children.
Communicate effectively with parents and school officials as necessary regarding safety issues.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge- Procedures for safely assisting children across the street.
- Pertinent traffic laws.
- Perform assigned tasks properly and efficiently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Provide own transportation to and from work site.
Education:
- A high school diploma, or equivalent is required.
- One year of experience working with children and/or the public.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and grasp; lift up to 10 lbs.; exposure to heat, cold, and outdoors.
Applicants who are offered employment are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, DCI/FIB Fingerprint check, job-related physical exam, drug screening test, and driver's license check.
