About the RoleDedicated School Staffing is seeking a dependable, flexible, and student-focused Building Substitute Paraprofessional to serve as the daily, on-site support staff member for a single school building. This role provides consistent assistance across classrooms, special education settings, and common areas. The Building Substitute Aide helps maintain continuity of support for students and staff, stepping into aide/paraprofessional roles as needed throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional and behavioral support to students under the direction of teachers or intervention specialists
- Assist in general education, special education, small-group, or one-on-one settings depending on daily needs
- Support students with academic tasks, organization, and engagement in classroom activities
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior plans as directed
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, or other assigned duties
- Assist with personal care or mobility needs for students with disabilities (if applicable)
- Maintain a positive, safe, and structured environment in all assigned areas
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Provide consistent support throughout the building, even as assignments change day-to-day
Follow all district policies, confidentiality requirements, and safety procedures
Required Qualifications- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)
- Clean criminal background checks
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple grade levels and classroom types
- Ability to follow directions, routines, and individualized plans
- Patience, professionalism, and a student-centered mindset
- Physical ability to assist students as needed (e.g., mobility support, classroom tasks)
Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience as an educational aide, paraprofessional, or in a school setting
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning or behavioral needs
Familiarity with intervention strategies, behavior supports, or special education services
