Kinder Camp Counselor

JOB SUMMARY AND DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE WORK:

Kinder Camp is a pre-kindergarten exploration day camp where children between the ages of 3.5-5 years old often have their first camp experience. Children will participate in a variety of activities such as swimming, crafts, field trips, and group play.

Working under the guidance of the camp manager, you will have the opportunity to impact the lives of children by providing a safe and nurturing environment that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Kinder Camp Counselors are responsible for leading high-quality fun and educational programs for small groups of 10-14 children, in addition to group activities with the other counselors and the entire camp of up to 40 children. Counselors will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with their colleagues and management and work on professional and leadership development.

Kinder Camp Counselors must ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times by meeting the physical demands of the position. We seek patient, cheerful, energetic, responsible staff who enjoy working with children and have demonstrated strong interest in a variety of activities. • Enthusiastic participation with the campers in all camp activities.
• Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week.
• Participate in field trips and special all-camp activities as needed/directed.
• Camp counselors maintain a rigorous schedule, accompanying and helping to mentor a group of campers throughout the busy camp day.
• Assist with intern supervision and support.
• Ensure proper camper behavior through the summer camp 3 R’s (Respectful, Responsible, Ready) policy and address any behavior concerns.
• Communicate with parents about participants’ experiences and report concerns to camp leadership.
• Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, first aid logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
• Actively participate in staff training, meetings, and other activities.
• Maintain health, safety, cleanliness in program areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Computer, General Office Equipment

Education and Experience:

• Counselor applicants must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate as of June 15, 2026.
• Experience or interest in visual art, music, dance, sports, or drama.
• Experience working in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
• Unlimited positive energy and ability to build and or work as a cohesive team.
• Desire and ability to work in a camp setting.
• Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable.
• Must be available for a majority of the camp season (Monday-Friday, June 15 - August 7, 2026).

First Aid and CPR certification or willing to become certified before camp preferred.

Knowledge of:

• Champions inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives. Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict.
• A variety of games, sports, activities, riddles, songs, and arts & crafts that children will enjoy participating in.
• Positive behavior management techniques.
