Under direct supervision, the intern will gain valuable on-the-job training and real-world experience by supporting the Planning, Asset Management, and Trails and Infrastructure Sections of the Capital Planning and Development Division (CPD). The intern will assist with data management, GIS mapping, and field validation work related to site constructability and existing park assets (both natural and structural).
This work will directly support improved planning, coordination, and prioritization of Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
Intern Responsibilities- Conduct site visits to validate park conditions and asset inventories
- Align inventory updates from the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) with other departmental inventories
- Assess departmental datasets to inform and improve CIP project prioritization
- Map planned and current CIP projects, as well as permitted work occurring on parkland
- Develop maps to support construction site suitability analysis and project scoping
- Create and update content for ArcGIS Online web applications (e.g., Dashboards, Survey
123) - Perform related duties as assigned
- Urban Planning
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Engineering
- Construction Management or related fields
- Experience working with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Experience working with surveys, historic documents, and record plats
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience working with AutoCAD is a plus
- Valid Driver’s License
- Familiarity with computer software and data management tools
- Strong oral and written communication skills
