We are seeking an experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer in our Greenbelt, MD office to lead and support a wide range of water resources projects from planning through construction. This role is responsible for performing complex hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, designing water resources improvements such as stream restorations, dam improvements, storm drainage systems, and stormwater management retrofits, and managing all phases of project delivery including permitting, construction document preparation, and construction administration.

The successful candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for clients, oversee construction observation and documentation efforts, and manage multidisciplinary project teams including engineering and CAD technicians, surveyors, and subconsultants. Candidates should possess a Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) license (or be able to obtain one within three months of hire) and have at least seven years of progressively responsible water resources engineering experience.

Preferred qualifications include familiarity with local permitting processes in Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Howard Counties, as well as experience working with the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and ArcGIS is highly desirable. Experience working within Prince George’s County is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Complete complex hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
  • Design water resources improvements including stream restoration, dam improvements, storm drain, and stormwater management retrofits, prepare and obtain all approvals for all construction documents
  • Handle client communications
  • Manage construction observation and documentation efforts
  • Manage engineering/CAD technicians, surveyors, and sub-consultants
  • Oversee preparation of construction documents
Required Skills and Experience
  • Professional engineer’s license in the state of Maryland (or the ability to obtain a Maryland license within three (3) months of hire)
  • Seven (7) years of water resources experience and must be able to demonstrate intimate knowledge of and experience in the execution of water resources projects including phases of feasibility, conceptual design, construction document preparation, permitting, and construction management and documentation
