Description

Lerch Bates is seeking a Building Enclosure Restoration Consultant to lead the evaluation, investigation, and restoration of existing building enclosure systems. This role focuses on assessing building envelope conditions, identifying sources of deterioration and water intrusion, developing practical repair strategies, and overseeing restoration projects for commercial, institutional, and other complex buildings.

In this role, you will manage restoration projects from initial assessment through construction, serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients throughout the project lifecycle. You'll perform building condition assessments, develop repair recommendations, coordinate design and construction activities, and help ensure restoration work improves the long-term performance, durability, and resilience of building enclosure systems. This position also provides opportunities to mentor junior staff, perform technical peer reviews, and build lasting client relationships.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably focused on existing buildings, repair, or rehabilitation
  • Strong understanding of structural systems and behavior in existing buildings
  • Experience with structural condition assessments, investigations, and repair design
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical findings in reports and presentations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Experience working with architects, contractors, and building owners
  • Proficiency in structural analysis or design tools (as applicable)
  • Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail

Working Environment:

This position is performed in a combination of office, remote, client, and field environments. Regular travel to project sites is required and may include commercial buildings, occupied facilities, active construction sites, industrial locations, rooftops, and other environments where building evaluations, testing, or construction observations are performed. Work may occur indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate active construction sites and existing buildings. Frequent use of computers, keyboards, measuring equipment, and handheld devices is required.
