ASRC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration, and project management support for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. We are seeking a Senior Scheduling Specialist to provide full-time in-office support on a NASA contract in Greenbelt, MD.
Role overview: This role provides lead scheduling support to the Mars Telecommunications Network. The lead scheduler is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the integrated project schedule for complex spaceflight hardware programs. This role coordinates across engineering, manufacturing, testing, and launch operations to ensure critical milestones for flight hardware are met. The lead scheduler analyzes schedule risks, tracks progress against baseline plans, and works closely with program/project managers and technical teams to resolve conflicts, optimize resources, and maintain progress to ensure that spaceflight components are delivered, tested, and integrated on time to support launch commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Identify schedule interdependencies, estimate activity durations and resource requirements to develop an integrated master schedule utilizing project management software
- Identify and track project milestones and activities necessary to achieve project objectives
- Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and schedule hierarchy structure
- Maintain and control the project integrated master schedule
- Document changes and revisions to the project schedule
- Gather project status information, input data into project schedule and present status to the Project management team
- Identify the critical path and near critical paths for each subsystem being developed
- Prepare and maintain a Schedule Management Plan in accordance with NPR 7120 and other NASA/Goddard requirements
- Support the independent review and analysis of earned value reporting and provide feedback to the Project Management Team
- Perform schedule analysis to determine overall project performance, variances and risk areas
- Audit contractor’s scheduling systems, processes, and procedures. Periodic visits to the vendors
- Provide what-if scenarios and work around and recovery plans to the Project Management Team
- Prepare presentation charts and reports to support major Project reviews including but not limited to KDPs, SRR, PDR, CDR, SIR, PER, and PSR
- Additional duties as requested
Requirements:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
- Team player with a positive/ can-do attitude at all times
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and produce quality work
- Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented customer service skills (over the phone, via email and in person) with the ability to anticipate needs, create efficient process flows, and respond to customer requests and deadlines
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of professionals including executive-level customers and leadership
- Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job
- Some travel may be required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of related experience.
