The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

This opportunity is closed to applicants who are Senior Fellows (5-years or more past PhD).

Projects include:

  • Evaluation and analysis of the long-term changes in stratospheric ozone, especially changes in the Antarctic ozone hole.
  • Evaluation of solar variability in the UV using measurements from the Nimbus 7 Solar Back scattered Ultraviolet (SBUV) spectral radiometer.
  • Studies of the response of upper-atmospheric ozone to solar activity using Nimbus 4, Nimbus 7, and SBUV/2 measurements.
  • Analysis of data from the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer on the effect of volcanic emissions (sulfur dioxide and aerosols) from the Mt. Pinatubo and other eruptions, on the reported ozone densities.
  • Studies of the sensitivity of the SBUV measurement technique to anthropogenic and solar-related ozone perturbations.
