Job Description

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers one- to three-year fellowships for scientists to conduct research at NASA Centers, Headquarters, or affiliated institutes. This position supports NASA’s missions in Earth science by advancing remote sensing and climate modeling of trace gases.

• Analyze remote‑sensing data from satellite instruments (OMI, TROPOMI, GEMS, TEMPO, PACE, SMAP) to characterize the distribution, variability, and atmospheric budgets of trace gases such as CH4, HCHO, VOCs, and halogen compounds.
• Improve emission estimates of these gases using remote‑sensing measurements.
• Run 3‑D global chemistry models (GEOSCCM) to assess the impact of trace gases on atmospheric ozone, aerosols, and climate, and to examine composition–climate interactions.

• Doctoral degree in Earth, atmospheric, or related science.
• Prior experience running 3‑D global chemistry models and data analysis software.
• Proficiency in inverse modeling, IDL, Fortran, and/or machine learning/artificial intelligence is preferred.
• Knowledge of airborne campaign measurements is a plus.
• Eligible for U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or eligible J‑1 visa status.
