Job Summary

The Quality Control Technician coordinates the implementation of quality standards and systems, monitors compliance, improves systems, tests product and process characteristics in a control environment, troubleshoots problems, and ensures compliance with internal and external customers and regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Utilize system methodology to conduct business activities.
  • Follow established standards to perform troubleshooting, testing, calibration, organization, and project management.
  • Reduce color variation in the manufacturing process, control quality forms, and database entry.
  • Perform and document testing as per the QC plan.
  • Report all product exceptions as per non-conforming material procedures.
  • Monitor color consistency and overall quality during pouring, pulling, and finished goods.
  • Perform visual inspection of finished goods daily with yard supervisor and shift manager.
  • Manage color formulas to ensure accuracy to the bill of materials and color visual standards.
  • Maintain current formula binder readily available on the production floor.
  • Conduct monthly audits to ensure accuracy.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and company procedures.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
  • Good communication skills and ability to read, speak, and write English (bilingual Spanish helpful).
  • Ability to observe, identify, deduce, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Quick learner and ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Math and computer skills.
Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and training or certification in a relevant skill or trade; 1‑2 years of experience in a relevant field.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out.
  • Prolonged standing or stationary position.
  • Perform repetitive movements, bend and/or twist.
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds.
  • Move or traverse throughout the facilities.
  • Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection).
