Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead safety programs and regulatory compliance for a heavy industrial manufacturing plant.
This is a plant-level leadership role responsible for driving a strong safety culture, maintaining MSHA and OSHA compliance, leading employee safety training, and partnering with plant leadership to identify and reduce workplace risks.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on industrial safety experience, strong knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations, and the ability to work effectively with employees and leadership throughout the plant.
Responsibilities- Lead and administer the plant’s health and safety programs, policies and compliance initiatives.
- Conduct plant safety, health, recordkeeping and housekeeping audits and ensure appropriate corrective actions are completed.
- Partner with plant leadership and operating departments to identify safety risks and incorporate appropriate safety measures into job planning.
- Lead and coordinate accident and incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in MSHA regulatory inspections, review citations and develop supporting arguments when citations should be contested.
- Monitor newly enacted and proposed safety regulations, evaluate their potential impact and develop programs necessary to maintain compliance.
- Develop and distribute monthly and annual safety reports to measure plant performance, trends and areas requiring additional attention.
- Administer and coordinate plant safety training programs, including both onsite and offsite training.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding MSHA, OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Identify recurring safety issues and develop practical solutions to reduce employee exposure and prevent injuries.
- Work with plant leadership to continuously strengthen the plant’s safety culture and employee engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing, mining or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Experience participating in regulatory inspections and addressing citations and corrective actions.
- Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Experience developing and delivering employee safety training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus across operations, maintenance and plant leadership.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
