Assistant Professor of Research
Position OverviewFaculty position in the School of Kinesiology, LSU. Primary duties include operating equipment for metabolic and mitochondrial function measurements, initiating and managing a research project line, and mentoring students, post‑docs, and faculty.
Responsibilities- 40% Research Project Management – PI/CO‑PI on funded grants; prepare progress and final reports, conduct literature reviews, collect and analyze data, attend grant meetings, prepare publications and presentations.
- 20% Research Mentoring – mentor grant team members, including staff, graduate and undergraduate students.
- 20% External Project Development – prepare materials and proposals for submission to granting agencies and foundations to secure external funding.
- 15% Research Dissemination – disseminate knowledge via reports, articles, white papers, and presentations at local, state and national conferences; assist the School to build grant development capacity.
- 5% Other duties as assigned.
- PhD in Kinesiology or a related field.
- Experience in research and/or an academic setting.
- Evidence of substantial experience in metabolic profiling.
- Strong academic and research credentials directly related to carrying out research in the area of physiology.
- PhD in Kinesiology or a related field.
- Two or more years of research experience in an academic setting.
- Specific interest in aging and the association between exercise and prevention of age‑ and obesity‑related cardiometabolic diseases (e.g., type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and sarcopenia), as a supplemental research focus to current faculty interests.
