Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, and support compliance efforts at the department and hospital levels.
  • Monitor safety and departmental policies and procedures, ensuring that all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled on time.
  • Collaborate with department managers, nurse council, magnet representatives, and the interdisciplinary team to identify, share, and implement safety best practices.
  • Apply systems thinking to view the patient and family within the unit, and to coordinate care that meets safety, quality, and regulatory expectations.
  • Collect and document clinical data, follow evidence‑based algorithms and protocols, and make clinical decisions that align with standards and patient needs.
  • Facilitate patient and family education using teach‑back techniques, and develop care goals and actions through partnership with families.
  • Engage in clinical inquiry and performance review, including self‑appraisal, peer review, and annual goal setting, to foster continual improvement and professional development.
  • Participate in shared governance activities, contributing to unit‑based councils and shared decision‑making processes.
  • Demonstrate integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) and advocate for patients and families, addressing ethical, moral, and cultural considerations in care.
  • Maintain an age‑specific and culturally inclusive approach to patient care by considering developmental needs and cultural context.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Diploma‑prepared RN from an ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution with a minimum of 2+ years of RN experience.
  • Active Ohio RN license; additional state licensure may be required.
  • If hired without a BSN or MSN, enrollment in a BSN or MSN program within one year of hire and completion within five years of hire is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a BSN or MSN from an accredited institution.
  • Foreign graduates must have license validation through Tru Merit® per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
