Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Inpatient Neurology

Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Inpatient Neurology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

• Provide clinical services including the diagnosis of illnesses, development and management of treatment plans, and prescription of medication.
• Perform history and physical examinations for patients presenting in the inpatient neurology specialty.
• Assess and diagnose chronic and acute conditions; formulate, document, and monitor individual treatment plans.
• Order and monitor therapeutic interventions such as diets, laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests as warranted by patient history and examination.
• Provide clinical consultation and order interdisciplinary consultations as needed.
• Prescribe medications in accordance with Federal and State law and CCHMC policy.
• Attain and maintain competency in subspecialty practice, skills, and procedures per Joint Commission standards for focused (FPPE) and ongoing (OPPE) professional practice evaluation.
• Maintain professional behaviors aligned with core values and care standards, and participate in quality improvement activities or research to enhance patient care.
• Serve as a preceptor, role model, or mentor; contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
• Integrate ethical considerations and research findings into practice; provide leadership through committee participation, professional organization involvement, and scholarly activities.
• Advocate for the pediatric patient, family, and caregiver; influence healthcare policy and practice as a leader.
• Promote self‑management and family‑centered care; employ diverse strategies, interventions, and teaching to support health and safety.
• Document and communicate with healthcare team members to achieve integrated delivery of pediatric care services.
• Delegate appropriate monitoring, assessment, and interventions in accordance with patient needs and scope of practice.
• Provide consultation to shape the plan of care, influence outcomes, and effect systemic change.
• Make referrals, discuss recommendations with patients/families, and order or perform appropriate therapies and procedures based on current evidence.
• Communicate diagnostic and laboratory results to patients/families, discussing benefits, limitations, and adverse effects of proposed therapies.
• Utilize systematic, ongoing evaluation of assessment data and outcomes to refine diagnoses, plans, and implementation.
• Assess the accuracy of diagnoses and the effectiveness of interventions, and use findings to recommend process or structural changes, including policy or protocol updates.
• Scope for the subspecialty role will not exceed the scope of the collaborating or supervising MD.

• Master’s degree in a related field (required).
• Current licensure and certification in accordance with CCHMC Delineation of Privileges.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care or Acute Care FNP or PNP).
• Experienced APP required; preference for 2+ years of app experience in neurology.

Full‑time: 0.9 FTE, 36 hours/week; 12‑hour rotating shifts (day and night); rotating holidays and weekends.
