Overview
This position provides an opportunity to support, mentor, and educate adolescents in a community-based school. It is an opportunity to gain experience in a fulfilling ministry and impact the lives of students in need through teaching. You will engage with youth in worship, education, work, and recreation in a Christian environment. River Academy excels in experiential education, and as a teacher you will experience education inside and outside the classroom.
River Academy is a year-round school with built-in paid time off.
- Provide instruction and mentorship to adolescents in a community-based school setting.
- Engage students in worship, education, work, and recreation within a Christian environment.
- Support experiential education by facilitating learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to create a supportive educational environment.
- Hold a BS or BA degree and a valid teaching license.
- Ensure the operation of the education program follows applicable guidelines.
- Maintain physical health and capacity to attend regularly, actively teach, participate in physical activities with children, and, when necessary, manage aggressive or self-injurious behavior.
- Ensure Special Education, DCS, and 504 plan documents comply with DOE and DCS standards.
- Encourage and facilitate ongoing involvement of parents and contracted agencies.
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Special Education certification is required.
