To qualify, you must certify to operate a forklift, be willing to work 8 or 12-hour shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Job Purpose

Responsible for starting up, maintaining and shutting down plating line to full operation, using Standard Operating Procedures, optimizing plating efficiencies and quality of blanks.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the plating line and process, including solution levels, temperatures, voltage, amperage, feed pumps, pressure gauges, agitation, and pumps, metering flow and other process controls.
  • Ascertain that all mechanical and electrical functions are operating correctly (e.g., worm gears, shoe alignment, cathode rails).
  • Make chemical additions; make-up chemical process tanks including cleaners, pre-dips, and plating solutions as per ISO work instructions and lab recommendations.
  • Perform specific maintenance functions including changing, emptying, and refilling anode baskets, cleaning plating line tanks and exhaust ducts, transferring solutions, changing anode cables and baskets, cleaning washer nozzles, and handling waste.
  • Make up KCN mix and brightener day feed tanks.
  • Relieve plater helper position for breaks and lunch as needed.
  • Make up Pennwalt and maintain feed rate as per ISO work instructions.
  • Set up special coinage production runs (e.g., uncirculated, proofs, Singapore's).
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Change and maintain filters as per ISO work instructions.
  • Segregate waste materials for proper waste treatment.
  • Perform hydrogen peroxide and carbon treatments of plating solutions as required.
  • Incorporate problem solving techniques to improve plating quality, operating efficiencies, and process control, and communicate ideas to supervision.
  • Pose no direct threat to health or safety of self, others, or property.
  • Provide regular attendance to perform essential elements between assigned start and end times for work.
  • Perform individual assignments as directed by management.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, corporation, and community; and maintain professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Primary emergency responder: complete all emergency response tasks as directed, assess, stop, and repair minor chlorine leaks; perform first responder actions within training scope.
  • Fit test and use company supplied respiratory protection equipment unless medically disqualified.
  • Start, operate, and shut down inside & outside waste treatment, including emergency shutdowns.
  • Identify chemicals used in waste treatment process and restock as required.
  • Conduct daily checks on waste treatment process.
  • Cleans sand beds, clarifies, and presses as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Secondary Functions
  • Knowledge:
    High school diploma or GED; one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:

    One-year industrial experience preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Skills:

    Ability to fulfill responsibilities during probationary period, read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one-on-one and small group settings; perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, percent, alternative graph interpretation; apply common sense to instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; handle standardized problems; drive forklift; use standard repair tools including hammers, wrenches, sockets, nippers, tin snips, drills, and disc grinders;

    use calibrated caliper and micrometer.
