TITLE: Instructional Assistant
- Essential Skills
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years of college, or two years of experience working with children in an instructional setting
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School year
STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Classroom Teacher
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so that students may learn effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities- Participates in classroom activity planning.
- Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children and individual students.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
- Helps maintain individual records for each child.
- Assists the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
- Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods and lunch supervision.
- Assists with daily living skills, which may include toileting
- Participate in specific training identified by the administration
- Follows individual behavior plans
- Attends community-based instructional activities
- Completes annual employee training
- Maintains consistent attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Requires the ability to sit with intermittent occasional walking, standing, bending, and squatting
- Requires the ability to stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
- Requires the ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
- Occasionally required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment of a minimum of 35 pounds

- Standard office and school conditions
- Moderate noise level in the work environment, adequate lighting, and comfortable temperatures - May have to monitor students in a variety of locations, including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather
- Occasional high to moderate levels of stress
$20/hour 6.75hrs/day
