EMPLOYMENT AND FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Summary of Duties and Expectations

The actions below are aligned with Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation's Vision, "Learning for all - All for Learning". Under the general supervision of the Director of Preschool & Early Learning, facilitate student growth and achievement in the Indiana Early Learning Framework Foundations, utilizing district approved curriculum and best practices. Document student progress, activities, and outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment.

Provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding students' development and progress.

Qualifications
  • Coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Experience in teaching young children
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable federal and state laws regarding special education students
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn, complete, and implement requirements for licensing and Paths to Quality
  • Shows a proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues
  • Demonstrates teacher leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills
  • Displays excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve
  • Illustrates evidence of professional growth, including and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities
  • A commitment to on-going, varied avenues of communication with families
  • Provides supervision of students in educational settings.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
Essential Functions
  • Plan and implement daily teaching and learning experiences that meet the academic, social-emotional, and functional needs of students
  • Utilize Indiana's Early Learning Development Framework when planning for instruction
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methodologies including cooperative learning, hands-on activities, small groups, partner work, and one on one approaches to learning
  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum and concepts including a commitment to purposeful play pedagogy and the development of the whole child
  • Document ongoing skill development and use this data to adjust instruction
  • Ongoing evaluation of classroom students utilizing a variety of assessments
  • Consistently provide positive behavior management and reinforcement
  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and therapists to plan and implement instruction for each child
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Preschool & Early Learning
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods of time; lift and carry 25 lbs.; work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations; see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter; hear and understand speech at normal levels; communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation, operate office equipment, and reach in all directions.
